2026 OCC & CYCC QUALIFIER
We are excited to announce the upcoming CYCC & OCC Qualifier on November 17, 2024. This tournament will offer both qualifier and non-qualifier sections, ensuring that all chess enthusiasts have a chance to participate.
To ensure the highest quality of the tournament, we have set a maximum capacity of 40 players. We appreciate your understanding.

Time Control: 15 minutes per player

When: November 17, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM

Check-in: Starts at 9:30 AM
Sections:

U8 Open/U8 Girls
-
U10 Open/U10 Girls
-
U12 Open/U12 Girls
-
U14 Open/U14 Girls
-
U16 Open/U16 Girls
-
U18 Open/U18 Girls
(Sections may be combined depending on registration numbers. Players must be born after January 1, 2007. A non-qualifier section is available for chess lovers.)
Bye:
One half-point bye is allowed in rounds 1 to 4 if requested the day before the tournament.

Pre-registration is required by 4:00 PM on November 16, 2024. No walk-ins will be accepted.

Prizes:
The top three finishers in each section will be awarded medals.
Qualification:

Players with a score of 2.5 or higher will qualify to compete in the Canadian Youth Chess Championship (CYCC).

The top 10% per grade will qualify for the Ontario Chess Challenge (OCC).
Other Information:

Snacks and prizes will be provided for all participants.

A CFC ID is required for the CYCC qualifier section. (Please access Chess.ca's website to register a CFC ID for the player).
Event Capacity: 40 players.

$25 for the Open section

$20 for the Girls' section

$40 for two players from the same family
We encourage early registration as spots are limited. This is a great opportunity for young players to gain experience, compete for prizes, and potentially qualify for prestigious tournaments.
